QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor Degree with Oklahoma Teaching Certificate 

 

REPORTS TO: Principal

 

JOB SUMMARY: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a middle school or high school learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and__in harmony with the goals__establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology as appropriate.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads, evaluates their job performance.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence and participates in professional development.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Performs any other duties as requested by administration.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to use a computer network system and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

 

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: 

Regular classroom/school environment. Regular office environment, including frequent use of electronic email, being able to sit for long periods of time without a break, etc. Normal effort of occasional periods of moderate physical activity. Work is typically performed in an office environment with some travel to other campuses. Interruptions are expected to occur often. Must be able to adapt and respond quickly to constantly changing technology.

 

BASKETBALL HEAD COACH



PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Has full responsibility for the overall supervision of the basketball program, including Junior Varsity and Middle School.
  • Is in charge of assignments and duties of assistant coaches working in the basketball program.
  • Is responsible for the general upkeep and protection of equipment under his/her jurisdiction.
  • Is directly responsible for a complete inventory of the equipment used for the basketball program, to be made at the end of each season.
  • Is responsible for submitting a “want list” to be used in drafting a budget for the basketball program, to be done at the end of the season.
  • Is responsible for keeping records as requested by the Athletic Director.
  • Is responsible for organizing daily practice periods for basketball keeping within confines of the time specified by the Principal; and is to keep proper authorities informed of practice schedules during holiday periods. The coach should be present at all practices. If the coach cannot be present, then practice should not be scheduled.
  • Has main responsibility for striving to build good sportsmanship and developing good public relations in the school and the community.
  • Attend OSSAA Rules Meetings and OCA Regional Meetings. 
  • Any additional duties assigned by the Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director.

 

PERSONNEL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Is responsible for knowing the rules concerning basketball in the Oklahoma State Activities Association handbook and at all times abide by them.
  • Is responsible for seeing that each athlete turning out for the sport has had a physical examination and has adequate insurance coverage as specified by the State Association and local policy. These forms, when completed, should be given to the Athletic Director for filing.
  • Is responsible for the general health and welfare of the athletes in the sport and always gives appropriate attention to athletes who are injured, ill, or otherwise incapacitated.
  • Is responsible for the actions and conduct of the team whenever they are under his/her jurisdiction.
  • Is responsible for seeing that the members of the team are dressed appropriately for trips to other schools.
  • Is responsible for clearing with the Principal, the departure time for trips that involve loss of school time and for seeing that the faculty is given adequate and appropriate notice.
  • Is responsible for seeing that all participants have transportation home when returning from road trips in the late evening hours.
  • Makes recommendations for letter awards and is responsible for clarification of the award policy to athletes.
  • Shall take appropriate action to see that the basketball gym, showers and locker rooms are clean and safe for student use; and supervise the gym at all times for misuse and help the Administration control the abuse of it.
  • Is responsible for seeing that the basketball gym is made ready for all contests (the score clock and P.A. system should be put out and the floor clean). Check the area before leaving at night for lights and locked doors.
  • Is responsible for explaining all school district policies and high school policies to all members of the team.
  • Is responsible for seeing that all rules and regulations of the school are enforced by the team members. Should work in harmony with the Principal and the Athletic Director at all times.
  • Attend OSSAA Rules Meetings and OCA Regional Meetings. 
  • CPR Certification (every 2 years)
  • Obtain Commercial Driver's License
  • Any additional duties assigned by the Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director.
